Kansas Education: Evolution or De-evolution?

On August 11, 1999 the Kansas Board of Education deleted the concept of evolution from the state's recommended curriculum beginning in 2001.

I'm glad to see that the good people of Kansas are providing proper education. The theory of evolution has never been proven, nor is it fully accepted by the scientific community. To teach the theory as fact would in itself be "unscientific." The decision by the Board provides educators in Kansas the opportunity to teach a "theory" as a theory and not as proven fact.

This decision should not be taken out of context. Our heightening awareness of nature and ourselves will ultimately guide our society. I have faith that this decision will not be followed by attempts at weakening the separation of church and state.
